Doritos One, Metabolism Zero
Ok I’m about to write something that will immediately make a lot of you hate me. Deep breath, here it goes – I’ve always been naturally thin. Sorry. I know it seems unfair right, I eat what I want, move as much as I like and the weight doesn’t stick to me. Like Teflon – except my Teflon seems to be getting worn-out, especially around the middle. Now, my pants are a little tight. Ok, truth time. I can’t do most of them up. And the ones I can aren’t very comfortable. What is happening to me? Is my fast metabolism getting tired?
This has led me to my first attempt ever to lose weight. My goal is 10 lbs. And to make it more interesting and motivating I have two friends who are also trying to reduce the bulge. We have one month to reach our individual goals and the loser (the person who is farthest from their goal) takes the other two out for a drink or two. Calorie reduced drinks I guess.
How will I do this? I have no idea. I’m a weight loss newbie. But I’m thinking the “eat less, move more” thing is the place to start. Which should be interesting because I’m kinda craving Doritos right now. Hey perhaps if I jog, ok that would kill me – perhaps if I brisk walk to the store and back, then the Doritos won’t count. Oh metabolism why have you forsaken me? And Doritos why do you have to be so darn tasty?

Bonnie this is great – I can really relate to the pants bit. Also, if the rest of the body is thin, then a little belly is so much more noticeable…
So I’ve got a yoga ball which has become my computer chair. Doing some stretching in the morning, which feels great.
But really, energetic dancing is the best way to “move more”… when you go out for that celebratory drink, try going to a dance bar!
