Twenty-three years ago, StarTek began as a packaging and fulfilment company called StarPak. By the mid 1990’s, StarTek became more involved in the business process outsourcing industry and has evolved over the years into a call center business with a speciality in telecommunications.

Third Phase for Third Crossing

We’re now moving into the third phase of the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Third Crossing. Phase 1 answered the question, “Why do we need a Third Crossing?” Phase 2 answered the question, “Where should we put the Third Crossing?” And now we’re entering Phase 3 to answer the question, “How will we build a Third Crossing?”

Lament For A Passion

When Hector sought approval to seek a seat on the executive of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Garrison and MacLeod Kane, frequent opponents of Hector and other moderates on Council, saw it as an opportunity to embarrass her by denying the request. Fortunately, a majority of Council voted down this petty, personal attack on a fellow councilor.

Nicholas is “Mr. Personality”

In some ways, Nicholas is just like any six year old boy. He loves remote control cars, paper airplanes, and collecting things. But Nicholas really shows what he’s made of when you get to spend a few hours with him. He’s a very caring little young man who wants to help with everything.

La Salle Goes Hungry for Haiti

On May 14 and May 15 twenty-three students, and several staff, from La Salle Secondary School participated in a thirty hour famine to raise money for the Haiti relief fund. This annual event not only raises money for those in need it teaches the students the importance of giving back.

Zack B Wins the Spelling Bee

Zach Betts won first prize in the Primary category of the Spelling Bee of Canada Provincial championship in Toronto on Sunday, May 16. His win netted him several prizes including $950 in cash.
Zach is a Grade 3 student at St. Martha Catholic School and won the regional competition of the Kingston Spelling Bee on April 24.

TD Canada Trust Grand Opening

May 15th was the official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new larger TD Canada Trust. Leonore Foster, the Pittsburgh district councillor, was on hand to cut the ribbon and mark the occasion and the fire department showed up to join in the ceremony too. Everyone enjoyed cake and hot dogs and live entertainment.

Success By Six

Marianne Hall from Kids Can Print and Danielle LaPointe from Oxford Learning teamed up to present a Success By Six workshop in mid May. Children were encouraged to try several fun work stations that focused on the cognitive, and physical skills they need as they enter school.
