“Grow A Row” garden has taken root and is actually growing. As two professed “brown thumbs” this is a pretty major accomplishment. One week after it was planted, there were already little plants sprouting up. The garden has carrots, radish, sun flowers, peppers, tomatoes, Cilantro, onions, and mint.

There is lot of construction in Downtown Kingston. They are installing new water and sewer pipes, which were reportedly the oldest in Canada, and new roads with granite curbs! There’s no question that this was badly needed and it will look great. So great in fact, that I expect these tax-funded improvements will boost your property values … if you happen to own downtown commercial real estate.

In March, Peter MacKay, the Minister of National Defence, announced the establishment of eight Integrated Personnel Support Centres (IPSC) for injured and recovering Canadian Forces personnel, former personnel, their families and families of the deceased. They are coordinated by a central unit, the Joint Personnel Support Unit (JPSU) in Ottawa.

In 2000, the ACFOMI, opened their doors in Kingston East. They are specifically dedicated to providing free Employment Services for French speaking residents and newcomers.
