New Medical Facility For Kingston East

6 August 2010 One Comment

Dr. Justyna Nowak and Dr. Jennifer Hacking have partnered to establish the Greenwood Medical Centre. Along with Dr. Veronica Legnini, plus one or two additional physicians, the team will have the capability to provide care for approximately 5,000 patients.

“The Greenwood Medical Centre will bring much needed services to the City’s East-End” says Teri Jones, Family Physician Recruitment & Retention Project Manager for KEDCO. “We are aware of the concern that the closing of the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre’s Family Health Centre will mean that existing patients are displaced. Drs. Nowak and Hacking, who are currently practicing at the KMFRC Family Health Centre, will continue to provide care for all their existing patients. The change is in their location, practice model and their ability to roster new patients from both The Base and Kingston in general. It’s a win-win situation for Kingston.”

“We are more than able to care for any military family that is looking for medical care.” said Dr. Justyna Nowak. “We will continue to care for the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre’s patients plus more. We remain committed to assisting Military families with their health needs.”

CFB Kingston Base Commander Rick Fawcett agrees, adding, “I am very happy that the doctors have agreed to continue providing support to the military families currently under their care and that they wish to maintain a relationship with the Garrison and Military Families.”

Originally, the KMFRC’s Family Health Centre was created to fill a void due to the low number of physicians able to provide health care to military families in the Greater Kingston area. Because this void has been filled over the years, and all military families will be able to continue to receive health care services, the KMFRC Family Health Centre is no longer needed and will be closing at the end of September.
