Five years ago, Wendy Aiken was intermittently bedridden, suffered from chronic fatigue, mental instability, insomnia, intense pain and a host of other debilitating issues. Her cognitive functions were compromised, she stuttered, and suffered from extreme anxiety. Doctors were unable to determine what was wrong with her and could only offer her anti anxiety and pain medication.

Thirty-three residents attended the meeting and were enlightened on the City’s tax structure, how the Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) operates, and a variety of topics that were generated during the question and answer period.

Janet Goneau, from The Winemaking Shop presented a $2,000 cheque to Micheal Borgis of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). The funds were generated by the Yoga For Change event on May 7th.
The Rideau Town Centre merchants are actively involved in events and activities to benefit the Kingston East Community. They are a perfect example of caring business owners who willingly show community initiative and support.

CFB Kingston is getting a new face, kind of. Col. Stephen Cadden is taking over from Col. Rick Fawcett as the new Base Commander. Col. Cadden was posted to Kingston in 1995, so he’s no stranger to the Base or to Kingston.
“This base is anchored on the best city in Canada,” said Col. Cadden. “People love coming here. The troops like it, our families like it, and after twelve years of being away, it feels great to be back again.”

CFB Kingston hosted a unique opportunity for select civilians to personally take part in the type of training that Canadian Forces members conduct.The events took place at various locations around the Base and allowed non-military members to see what it’s like to be a soldier…without actually becoming one.
