Ride For Dad

2 June 2011 One Comment

The rain held off and the sun was almost shining for the Motorcycle Ride For Dad. Hundreds of riders assembled in the Constantine Arena parking lot to begin the ride to the Rio Can Centre.

The event kicked off with speeches from dignitaries and notables. Town Crier – Chris Wyman, Mayor Mark Gerretsen, Lt.-Col. Ken Carr, MP Ted Hsu, Former Speaker of the House – Peter Milliken, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation – Ian Wilson, Organizers Heather and Julia, CFB Kingston Padre – Greg Gerrard, and Ride Leader – Rick McFarland all took their turn at the microphone.

The annual event raised over $90,000 in Kingston towards the fight against prostate cancer. Last year’s event raised $1.7 million nationally for prostate cancer research and awareness. Thirty-one cities take part all across Canada and have raised a total of $7 million since the ride’s inception.
