KEN Jan 2015 ISSUE
If I recall correctly one of your previous articles indicated that sobeys (owned by loblaws) would most likely be interested in the grocery store space at the pending new plaza, this would mean valu-mart (owned by loblaws) would close.
Further people seem to be demanding a hardware store in the area but I believe one article stated the new proposed hwy 15 space would not allow for it? (Due to space).
If sobeys is a reality it makes a possible large vacancy on gore road (valu mart). Will that not provide adaquate space for a hardware store? Even a small Rona or home hardware will meet the immediate demands of a hardware store in the east.
Keep in mind hardware stores don’t have to be the giants like the lowes and Home Depot in the west end. Think like of sizes in Sydenham, Verona, Odessa, Inverary, Harrington, etc etc.
If Valu Mart does leave gore road it may be wise for the plaza owner to start courting the owners of home hardware, Rona, etc. as future tenants.
